Belus

Belus was born on the shores of a finger of the Lake of Bayl, between the Knightfall Forest and Baylbny Hills.
His Dragonborn family had longed served in Shone Baret for generations, so Belus was expected to follow that same path. Most of his kin served, not in the upper echelons of leadership by any means, but as reliable and capable "non-coms," roughly the equivalent of sergeants in modern militaries. They were long-serving and competent, indeed, the backbone of the Shone Beret.
Belus' father was captured in battle. He was later tortured, even vivisected, by a powerful, wicked elfin leader anxious to discover the secret of the Dragonborns' lightning.
Belus has chosen to become an Eldritch Knight and to learn magic, at least in part, so that he might more effectively be able to seek and destroy this wizard.
Belus generally distrusts wizards and elves at first sight, until he comes to know them.
He is an avid and middling chess player. It's his chief means of relaxation and socialization.
