Edjo Character in Amanor | World Anvil

Edjo

God of Sight

Edjo is the lord of sight, observation and avian messengers. He is considered a deity of deserts, mostly known in the various cultures of the Rubian.   Unknown to most mortals, Edjo was once a mortal man of the now-fallen Sepher empire. He was a wise scholar and a pious man, being a devout servant of Kal-Sebek, the god of knowledge. Edjo met an untimely end on an expedition when he and his retinue were trapped in an unforgiving sandstorm. The merciless weather continued for so long that all of his servants and followers eventually perished, unable to find shelter. Finally, Edjo was the only one alive. The guilt of not being able to save his people haunted him greatly and was made worse as the storm suddenly dissipated; he noticed that he had been leading everyone pointlessly in circles in the very close proximity of a sheltered cavern entrance. The caverns were unable to save the now-exhausted Edjo, but as he lay dying by the cliff-side, he swore before the Gods that he would do anything to protect others from a such a cruel fate. Kal-Sebek then took his Soul and sent him to undertake the trials of the Empyreal Lords.
