Avani Character in Amanor | World Anvil

Avani

Avani is the Goddess of Travel and Exploration. She is widely worshipped across the world due to her domains, being the patron of sailors, explorers, rangers, travelling merchants and nomads. She is thought to safeguard the ways of all travelers against the fickle wills of the primeval gods of nature and the elements. She embodies wanderlust, the thrill of adventure, and the disconnection from a sense of belonging to any one physical place. As such she is very much the polar opposite of her husband -- Roondaar, the God of Hearth and Home.

Incarnations

The canonical depiction of Avani is as a Gnomish woman clad in simple travellers robes and decorated with twigs, leaves and vines -- not unlike a forest gnome would look like.   Some human cultures worship Avani as a human goddess. There are various incarnations of a human Avani, the most known of which is the well-dressed and civilized “explorer” -- as worshipped by humans of Tyria, Minarra and Isatia.   The slaver tribes of the Dalantai also worship a human version of Avani, but they depict the goddess as more of a rugged survivalist, clad in furs and leathers.
