23.0 - Faster Than Light Report
General Summary
Servitor,
We made all haste to catch the fugitives in Sluttheyde, as you requested. They were, in fact, there—we never doubted your prediction. However, they slipped away before we could catch them. It took us longer than we would've liked to gain entry into the settlement without causing an... incident. By then, they were already spotted a good distance towards Suer Vineyard.
Of course, the scorpion could catch them. And we did reach them. However, there was a large wind rift, strong enough to begin tugging on the scorpion. We fired shots at the fugitives as one of them—the ex-Enforcer—began doing something to the rift. We unfortunately had no rift experts in our squad to understand what she could've been doing. She raised her hands to the rift, and I swear Servitor, as she did so I saw her shadow grow and stretch over the edges of the rift and a large figure became barely visible on the inside of the tear.
Few, if any, of our shots landed, and just as we got in close to properly apprehend them, they... they just jumped into the rift. And then it closed. I've never heard of such a thing happening.
Please forgive me and my squad Servitor. Had we been better prepared to expect the unexpected, we would have them in our custody now.

A large shadow and rift manipulation? Then they have the coin. And are using it. Which is concerning and frustrating. But still more infuriating is that they have AWOKEN ÅND. Years of work gone and sacrificed lives wasted. My blood is boiling. But I remember. I remember what Vira was always trying to teach me. My anger is a tool, and right now it will not stop Ånd. It will not stop Omdanne, no, apparently she's changed and she's been planning. I'll need to get craftier. I'll need to intercept the runaways and try reason one last time, for Vira's sake. But I will need to find them first. And regardless of where the rift spits them out, I know there are two places they will want to be going to now.
