In a shocking move, Konan III disinherited his son, Hoel, declaring him illegitimate and ineligible to become Duke (Hoel instead become to Count of Naoned. Instead, his daughter Berta became Duchess. She married twice, first to Alain of Penthievre, father of Konan IV, and Eozon II. Upon her death, Eozon refused to grant Konan his inheritance, but he was captured by Konan's ally, Raoul of Fougeres.
