Duchess Eleonora "The Fair Maid of Breizh" "The Pearl of Breizh" of the House of Penteur

A claimant to the throne of Breizh and Logres, she was viewed as a threat by her political rival, John Lackland of Logres, whose claim of the Logresed throne was weaker, but enjoyed the support of his Albianed Barons, who did not wish to see a woman take the throne and concerned over the power of the Sidhe Courts, which had established open political control over the Ar Goat Broceliande in Breizh. John secured a powerful ally in Pope Innocent III, whose political ambitions on the Armorican Peninsula via a crusade had been thwarted by Eleanor's mother Konstanza and the Queens of Summer and Winter.   Church and baronial opposition to Eleanor prevented her from exercising her claim to the throne of Logres. While her capture and imprisonment were considered, the Sidhe rescue of Konstanza from a similar situation still fresh in the minds of the nobility, no steps were taken to do so. During her reign, the Sidhe and Druids gained more power, much to the apprehension of the Church and Bediz (Human) lords. Like her mother, Eleanor vanished abruptly and, having no issue, succession passed to her nephew Yann.
