The Hours
“The Lightbringer’s Bell brings the dawn, the Warrior the day. The Labourer rings out to work, the Maiden rings to play. The Dark chases away the light and drives the sun away.” - Children's Rhyme
Each day in Alvez is divided into 5 segments, called hours or bells. Each bell is divided into four chimes, except for the Dark Hour, which contains 8. The start of the hour is heralded by the long tolling of different material bells, which repeat for shorter sessions on each subsequent chime.
The Hours are as follow, with each of the daylight bells corresponding to one of the gods of the Faith:
The Dark Hour (Roughly from sunset to sunrise)
The Lightbringer's Hour (Early morning)
Elouan's Bell is made of crystal with a glowing clapper
The Warrior's Hour (Morning to Noon)
The Warrior's bell is made of polished bronzesteel
The Labourer's Hour (Noon to mid-day)
The Labourer's Bell is made of tin.
-The Maiden's Hour (Mid-Day to Sunset)
The Maiden's bell is a small silver bell, the most expensive in most belfries
