New Moon - A child born under the new moon is destined to die a violent death. Males born under the new moon are not destined to live long. Children born under this phase are said to be more erudite than others.
Waning Crescent - Females born under the waning crescent are not destined to live long. Children born under waning moons speak less, but reason better.
Third Quarter - The most labourious births. Children born feet-first would be Boermerzh. Children born under waning moons speak less, but reason better.
Waning Gibbous - Children born under waning moons speak less, but reason better.

First Quarter - The most powerful Boermerzh are born under the half moon. If the mother died during childhood, the children are believed to grow up evil.
Waxing Crescent -Girls born under waxing crescents are early learners.
Other Beliefs
If the moon's phase does not visibly change three days after birth, the next child to that mother will be of the same sex.
If clouds veil the moon, the child will drown of be hanged.
Lethans believe that each person has their own star, which appears above their birthplace. If bright, they will be happy, if pale, they will not. Children are warned not to ever try and count the stars, because if they count their own, they will drop dead.
