    The Legend of Koridwen

The Korrigan claim descendancy from the Sorceress Koridwen of the Tuath Gargan and Hu-Ar-Braz, the first Druid and Bard. Hu-Ar-Braz is viewed as the teacher of agriculture, founder of justice and the great institutions of both humanity and the Korrigan, conqueror of giants and the protector in the darkness. Koridwen bore three children: 2 sons, Mor-Vrau (father of the Bediz) and Avrank-Du (Father of the Fomorii) and a daughter, Kreiz-Viou (Mother of the Sidhe). While Mor-Vrau was strong and Kreiz-viou beautiful, Avrank-Du was born misshapen, with a horrifying countenance. To ensure the flourishing of her misfortunate offspring, Koridwen set about brewing the Waters of Divination, a potent arkane concoction that required a full year to brew. To ensure it was maintained, she tasked the blind Morda and the dwarf Gwiou to watch over the iron cauldron in which it bubbled while she was away. In the last moments of the process, three drops splashed out onto Gwiou's finger. The dwarf absently sucked at his burned finger and was suddenly imbued with the powerful knowledge of Huderezh. The Cauldron exploded into iron shards and Koridwen materialized in a rage as the dwarf took flight, forewarned by his new magical abilities. Gwiou, fleeing the angry goddess, transformed into a hare, while the goddess became a greyhound to give chase. When they reached a river, the dwarf changed shape once more, becoming a fish as Koridwen followed closely as a Dobhar-chú . The dwarf took to the sky as a wren, but was hunted by a hawk. Lastly, the dwarf became a grain of wheat, only to be consumed by the Black Hen Koridwen. But the magical Anaon of Gwiou remained, and Koridwen bore a fourthdaughter, this one imbued with the hud of Gwiou. Hu-Ar-Braz, angered, set the child to sea, but was rescued by Elffin, son of Eladan King Gouydno. The two settled on a remote peninsula and from their line, the Korrigan were born. Because their gift was stolen, the descendants of Avank-Du became enemies of the descendants of Gwiou.
