Faewylde

The Faewylde is not a place per se, but rather a state of a place, located deep with Faerie, Faewylde are locus of pure chaotic magic, breaking down logic and causality into impossible colours, contradictory forms and uninhibited emotions. Vistas spread before a viewer that stretch past the horizon, yet can be made in a single step, yet an object just out of arm's reach will forever remain at the tip of the fingers. In this kaleidoscope of energy and shapes, everything is... more. Mountains reach far into the sky, while canyons sink kilometers into the earth. Oceans are limitlessly deep, forests impossibly large, packed with trees. Great rivers wildly rage through the landscape, waterfalls flowing uphill into a perfectly still lake without so much as a ripple. Every scent is distinct, every sound crisp and identifiable. The shear sensory wonder overwhelms most visitors, who are forever drawn into its beauty. Magikal energy is at dangerous levels here, and prolonged exposure or an incredible surge of power may transform a mortal into Milligeted. Even the "civilized" Sidhe like the Tuatha de Danann know to tread carefully in these instances.   Time has no meaning in the Faewyldes, even by the standards of Faerie, as causality ceases to operate. A single step may take a traveler from a sunny summer afternoon to a cold and bitter winter midnight. An immediate step back may reverse this, or the traveler finds themselves lost in the snowbound night. Upon exiting the Faewylde, time may have passed as normal or a hundred years have gone by in a minute, or no time has passed at all, returning to the exact moment the material world was left. Internal time may have proceeded as normal with no ill effects or a traveler may crumble to dust upon stepping out. Creatures with some magikal blood, such as Fae, Milliget or Boermezh may be able to navigate the worst of these effects or even use them to their advantage. The ships of the Finfolk of Orkney, for example, create limited instances of Faewylde, allowing any body of water, from a small creek to the widest ocean, to be traversed in exactly 7 strokes.

Manifestation

Upon entering Faerie, the air becomes crisp and visuals sharpen. Every sensation operates at its fullest. Entering a Faewylde sends this sensation into override, an overwhelming barrage of stimuli that cloud the mind's eye. Returning to Bedouar often leaves a traveler feeling depressed, like ther are entering a muggy, dusty and dead world, even in the liveliest marketplace or vibrant field of wildflowers. This reaction can be quite severe among unprepared and lead to the victim returning forever to faerie, going mad or committing suicide.

Localization

Determining where a Faewylde is is difficult, as they rarely remain in place. Generally, it is obvious to a trained eye when one is nearing an unstable area, although this is less helpful to a newcomer to Faerie, which is already overwhelming.   When a Faewylde occurs near the veil, it may rupture, creating a Wyldestorm as it spills out into Bedouar, causing devastation as pure magic violently reworks reality. The area of entry will usually result in the creation or expansion of a bleed. These are often in remote areas like out on the Mor Bras (The Great Sea) or deep in the forests and mountains, but when one strikes a populated area, the results are devastating. The great city of Ys was destroyed in one such storm, as were the coastal forests of Lyonesse.   Massive usage of Magik strains the Veil and can trigger a Wyldestorm by rupturing the barrier between worlds. A full riding of the Chase Gouez often brings Wyldstorms as do the Mouararch as they swim through the oceans.
