Significance
In their simplest form, Bouclier d'armes are simply tassets, small shields attached to the fauld on a suit of armor. It is typically a solid piece of metal, mostly commonly in the shape of a kite shield, but other varieties exist.
A cloth variant is sometimes worn by duelists or nobles as a sign of their station.

The technology behind the bouclier d'armes is quite simple, and as such, their use is widespread, adopted even among poorer nobles and some commoners. Bouclier d'armes are considered an essential aspect of a proper parade or tournament armor, and most knights will have at least a simple shield at their disposal.

Lower quality shields, basically wooden plaques painted with the armes of a combatant, can be found for a few sous, while elaborate high end parade shields. well-crafted objets d'art of finely laid precious metals, inlaid with gemstones cost considerably more.
