Crucibalism
Crucibilism is focused on the transition of materials and the power of creativity. they are deeply interested in how materials transition from one phase to another and most importantly around the forging of metals.
Most cities have an industrial section and usually at it's center is a Crucible forge, and around it the hall of the philosophers who study and tinker. They are consultants to engineers, blacksmiths, artificers, and numeriamancers. The primary use of their magic is to power the forge and to mend broken things. They study the ancient numeria to understand them and try to recover lost technological secrets, or replicate them with a combination of magic and machine.
The Crucible forge has a hidden secured vault where they keep their experiments and collected numeria. Adventures are most likely to be paid in numeria when doing tasks and quests for this order.
Philosophically this order is one of the least esoteric and understood the best by commoners. The esoteric side of this philosophy is their concept of Life in the Crucible - that the individual must be broken down and reformed in order to grow, much like scrap metal accumulates in a shop and must be gathered and melted down to make new useful things. Their philosophy for devotees requires a periodic collection of scrap and melting it down. The devotee will take month in hermetic isolation and with guidance examine their life, flaws, and achievements. They discern what they are holding on to and what state their ego is in. At the end of that isolation they they take The Amalgam, a sacred medicine which is a hallucinogen and a mild paralytic. the experience lasts between 4 to 6 hours and then they mentally melt, and may experience drastic changes in attitude, alignment, and and some times drop quirks and affectations for wholly new ones. this metamorphosis has been known to cure mental illness, and even lift curses caused by magical aberrations. Most clerics, paladins and monks who hold this philosophy undergo this tradition prior to becoming adventurers.
Structure
The Crucibal is a well organized evangelical organism. They actively build forges and smithies in cities and towns and recruit as many adhearants as they can.
Each forge congregation is called a Crew. No class or titles. Members of crew focus on smelting and building together as a team. These items are either sold and proceeds go to the forge or they are given to the needy. Each crew has a forman. This forman may be a layman or cleric.
The world is divided in to Archdiocies, each one focused on a city, so there are hundreds of them. The forman of each town answers to a regional Melter. The Melter collects funds from all of the foundaries in their region, and redistributes them down to individual forges, and up to their higher Archdiocies. At the top of the organization are the Welders and these answer to the Supervisor. The supervisor serves for a 30 year term, and is elected from the welders.
