The Void Between Realms

The Coldness that Divides the Realms

In terms of creation, there must always be a start. The start for the realms of Faterra, Aslandail, and the other realms of Alterra, was the Void Between Realms. It is an empty endless piece of "existence" that dominants the space between realms. To travel through it is a dangerous ideal and to live in it is completely impossible. The Dragons, Phoenixes, and Leviathans were the one ones to ever be able to brave the area and even then, lost many of their own kind to it. But for a place that kills so much, it is the origin for so much that brought life to the realms we know of.

Geography

The few records there are on the Void suggest that it shapes to the people that enter it. When the Dragons and Phoenixes entered the Void, it was nothing but empty black sky with thousands of lights that hint at other worlds. For them, the Void was cold and it felt like they were withering away the longer they stayed there. When they near a world, it shows a glimpse of it as if it were a portal and they were able to fly in and find themselves in the skies of the new world.

For the Leviathans, it was an endless sea they could swim through. However, the sea is cold and crushing, making any Leviathan who stays for too long a time wither away just like their hated enemies. The sea is bottomless and there is no surface. It is endless except for the portals of the realms. When they go through, they find themselves in the seas of the new world or bursting out of the ground if there is no water on the surface.

For non-Elders, they haven't been able to tour the Void since they can only teleport from Point A to Point B. However, some Aslandailian scholars have been able to see a glimpse of the Void through use of experimental magic and techniques. For sea born races, they saw the great sea that the Leviathans swam through. For the airborne species, they saw the endless skies the High Dragons and Phoenixes flew through. But for the ones who didn't come from either, they saw an endless walk of land. The ground was as black as the sky and the stars were there, pointing to other realms. Black sand dotted the ground, forming a desert of the night that would continue without end, some turning into dunes and others being flat and bare.

Fauna & Flora

No living creature lives in the void as it will kill anyone who stays there too long. It is empty and barren and can drive those that stay there too long insane or even just cost them to wither away. Some inter-realm scholars have theorized that there is something in the Void that makes it so destructive to living creatures. Maybe the warping of the realm makes it to where the Void constantly tries to reset. But since it can't while other beings live there, it causes them to break down until they die and become nothingness just like the realm itself.

Natural Resources

Rare metals come from the Void Between Realms but no one knows where they come from. They could be from the remnants of destroyed worlds or from the formation of new worlds as they are quite potent and expensive as well. Besides that, there are no natural resources that exist in the Void.
