M'dia

In North-East M'dia, the steep slopes of the iron-rich claws of the Garianna Range break the grass waves of the Golden Steppe. The small stream here is a shadow of the wide river it will become as it meanders north passing below the tall towers of Vekirai. The Cyirosi tell stories of the sea they have never seen and the great Eastern forest where the rain is said to seldom stop.   "M'dia" as the people of Bi'tsng'ot call it, is "the land" as opposed to the sea. Except the legendary Northern Wastes far beyond the reach of their ships they know of no other continent. In fact, they do not know most of their own.

Geography

The largest continent in all of Alter is M'dia. There are populations of sentient people's throughout but the colossal central central mountain range divides these groups such that those in each quarter have little knowledge of the others.   A complex collision of tectonic plates defines the continent. The rain is carried in by winds blowing westerly, leaving the west of the continent arid and the east wet. M'dia is almost bisected by the equator and is hottest there. It is temperate though in the far north and south and it is on the northern and southern coast that the people of M'dia are most densely gathered.   The central eastern edge of the continent features a vast tropical rainforest, in stark contrast to the lifeless sandy desert on the western coast.
