The Windkeepers

The Windkeepers is a loosely joined group of like-minded people who reside around the waters of The Maiden's Belt Archipelago. They are often found in many local colonies and many times hired by the fishermen and sailors as guides through the treacherous waters of the Maiden's Belt. The environment on the area of the aforementioned archipelago became rather peculiar after the Turbulence. Many things changed when The Old Sea became a desert and it changed the ecosystem and workings of the area forever: A huge maelstrom opened in the northeastern part of the archipelago, hundreds of tiny islands popped up from the water like mushrooms after rain, and most importantly, the winds changed course. That is when the Windkeepers became to be.

The Windkeepers, according to their name, keep the wind. They tend to the wind, aiding the locals. Most of the Windkeepers are either druids, sorcerers, or believe in some nature god or goddess, usually in Trathyses who is the Goddess of Storms. Sometimes all of that. The Windkeepers are not divided in their faith, as their main agenda is to help the people living in the area of the archipelago. Certain members of the windkeepers can be met further away from their original 'habitat', as some adventurous young ones take a job working on a ship as a cartographer or pilot.

The Windkeepers are the most trusted ones to have on board when one sets sail on the Maiden's Belt archipelago's area. The winds are especially treacherous, sometimes working against the laws of nature, when you'd need someone who can tame them to be there to handle them, so the ship won't be pushed under the waves by a freak gust of wind. The Winds around the Maiden's belt are notorious, and they seem to be tied to the moons and their activity.

The Windkeepers have a few grandkeepers on the biggest islands. Some windkeepers also work underneath the waves with the sea elves, when they are usually referred as the Wavekeepers, but are essentially the same. Underneath the waves the Goddess of Tempest, Trathyses, is even more important and among the sea elves there are many priests who belong to the Windkeepers, whereas more sorcerers and druids reside on the dry land.
