The Shillelagh of Silvanus

The Shillelagh of Silvanus is a large wooden staff which belonged to a perished god of forest, The Great Oak Father Silvanus. It was one of his most iconic possessions, a strong weapon and something that was unique and very distinctive. When the Oak Father faded from existence, the whereabouts of the shillelagh was lost and the disappearance of the great weapon as well as the entity was mourned by many faithful. The stories about shillelagh -the mysterious and powerful weapon, yet an artefact of something long gone, something that was there even before humans appeared on Altaros - has been stable in many a minstrel's repertoire. More of a weapon, this shillelagh was of magical nature and never actually raised against anyone, but it was more of a relic, a symbol of status.

History

It is said that the shillelagh was given to Old Oak Father as a gift from some strong entity from Feywild. It was carved beautifully, crafted from a living tree, which was gently guided into becoming a shillelagh of humongous size. It was then gently infused with magic, runes circling its shaft. Wraps of leather was but on it for better grip, but the shillelagh was, in essence, a living an dbreathign being, magically kept alive. It was not suffering, but very happy to be of use. The tree it was crafted from had volunteered to become such a weapon for the Great Oak Father.  And what a weapon it truly was!

Significance

The Shillelagh was unique and perhaps the most iconic weapon of Old Oak Father. It was a show of his power, or more like the show of his decision of not to use it, as usually the shillelagh was fastened on his hip, not in use.
