The Flipside

The Flipside is the eldrich and barren hellscape that the wendigoes originate from. Not much is known about this world, as few have been lucky enough to traverse the Flipside and make it out alive and with all of their mental faculties intact.

Some Altairians believe the Flipside to be a Hell dimension, a place where bad people go to be tormented for eternity when they die. They believe that the wendigoes are in fact the souls of sinners who are condemned to drain the Anima of other worlds, forever denied the one thing that binds all of Altairus together. While there is likely little credence to this belief, one cannot deny that the Flipside is a very bad place to be.

Geography

What little has been seen of the Flipside is a blasted wasteland with barren grey plains and a dark, ethereal sky of blues and purples that wobble and throb unsettlingly.

Localized Phenomena

The Flipside is completely silent. One can't even hear the crunching of the ground beneath their feet or the sound of their own voice. This makes it much more difficult to tell when a wendigo is sneaking up on you.

Climate

The Flipside possesses the same empty cold that Anima-depleted lands in Altairus have, except much more intense. There is no wind, no sunlight, nothing but cold and dead landscape.

Fauna & Flora

As soon as one steps into the Flipside, the wendigoes that dwell there can instantly sense the Anima that being possesses. For this reason, even stepping into the Flipside without proper protection is considered suicide, and even then it is considered very dangerous. Once one is inside, wendigoes surround them from all angles, trying to drain their Anima. Because of this, beings that are not wendigoes tend not to last very long in the Flipside.
