Ley Spas

While Anima is present all throughout Altairus, there are many landmarks where Anima is stronger than in other places. These places, called leys, have historically been used by faeries and elementals to restore their magic when it gets drained. Ley spas are built around these magical places.

Purpose / Function

Ley spas are essentially the hospitals of Altairus. While they were traditionally built around leys to treat conditions caused by Anima depletion, the staff of a ley spa are trained in herbal and magical cures for many different ailments.

Architecture

Ley spas vary in architecture depending on their location. The ley spa outside of the storm gremlin village on Tempest Island, for example, is built out of local cobblestone, much like the huts the storm gremlins inhabit.

Defenses

Ley spas, being built around leys, are much more resistant to Anima depletion than the surrounding areas they inhabit. For this reason, they can keep functioning even in an Anima-depleted area long after they should. They are also instrumental in restoring the Anima of the surrounding area when it gets depleted; areas with ley spas recover from Anima depletion than areas without ley spas.

History

In the Golden Era, many ley spas were simply leys that faeries and elementals came to visit when their Anima got depleted. In the Post-Separation Era, many of these leys have been housed in buildings that make them more visible to Altairians who don't know exactly what they are looking for in a ley.
