Altairia of Foxfire

Altairia Aokachi (a.k.a. Altairia of Foxfire)

Altairia of Foxfire is the Fire Champion of Altairus. Before the War of the Wendigoes, she lived in the Temple of the Four Flames in the nekomata islands. When the islands came under attack, she used the sword Yuuki to fend off the wendigo invasion. Soon after, she met up with Puer Aeternus, the Light Champion, and joined the five other champions in their quest to vanquish the Heart of Darkness.

Personal history

Altairia grew up in a close-knit town close to the Garnet Palace known as Foxfire. When she joined the Eternal Flame Priesthood at age 15, she was assigned to the Temple of the Four Flames, located on the biggest of the Nekomata Islands, along with her close friend Inari.

While she was at the temple, she spent most of her days protecting Yuuki, at that point simply a very powerful flaming katana, from outside threats.

Altairia did not find out about the War of the Wendigoes for quite some time after it started. It was only when the wendigoes invaded the village near the temple that she, despite all warnings, removed Yuuki from its place at the center of the temple and used it to send the invaders packing. Not long after, she met up with Puer Aeternus, who introduced her to the rest of the team.

After the final battle, an explosion sent the Fragments of Anima flying across Altairus. Altairia spent the years after tracking down the Fire Fragment, searching across the continents of Domeria, Tamora, and Cirkea. While she was searching, she took a rest stop in Grimberg, where she met Kirami. Noticing her struggle, she offered the younger kitsune the chance to become her traveling partner. The two have stuck together side by side from then until the day Jack Thunder and his crew came along.

Mental Trauma

Altairia has actually come out of the War of the Wendigoes relatively unscathed mentally. Or maybe that's just what we're inclined to think. During the War, she faced the same struggles as the rest of the team, which threatened to dampen her inner flame. Maybe she's just better at hiding it than the others.

Intellectual Characteristics

In addition to being skilled with the sword, Altairia is very knowledgeable when it comes to medicine. Appropriate, since Yuuki does have the power to burn disease away.

Morality & Philosophy

Altairia understands the importance of solidarity and rejects prejudice above all else. Despite her time searching alone, seeing Jack Thunder and his friends getting along so well despite their differences.

Towards the end of the fifth installment of "Jack Thunder and the Fragments of Anima," she reflects on how biased she was against nekomata at Kirami's age and figures that's why the wendigoes invaded the Nekomata Islands in the first place.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

For many years, Altairia's only goal was to find Yuuki again. She worried about the destruction that could be wrought if it fell into the wrong hands. When she met Kirami, she was focused on taking care of the young kitsune as well.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Altairia is not as good at fighting as she used to be, but she makes up for it through her tactical and medicinal knowledge.

Likes & Dislikes

Despite eating them so much on their journey, Altairia never tired of sweet potatoes during the War of the Wendigoes. In fact, they made suffering the constant hunger and exhaustion a bit more bearable for her.

During her youth, Altairia held a rather unhealthy suspicion of nekomata. A lot of this was the product of her upbringing; kitsune in her community were regularly told horrible racist stories about nekomata. She carried this with her to the Temple of the Four Flames, making her hesitant to leave the temple to do anything. After the wendigoes invaded, she more or less got over this, though she looks back on this time in her life with considerable shame.

Virtues & Personality perks

Altairia is surprisingly good at keeping her cool in any circumstance. She wasn't always this way; priests in the Eternal Flame Priesthood subjected themselves to long meditation sessions to learn to better control their fiery tempers.

Vices & Personality flaws

Before the War of the Wendigoes, Altairia was incredibly prejudiced against nekomata. It was to the point where she'd avoid leaving the Temple of the Four Flames. She has more or less gotten over this since the War, but every once in a while she will still catch herself judging someone before she gets to know them.

Social

Contacts & Relations

For the past few years, Kirami traveled alongside Altairia.

Social Aptitude

Altairia has become rather solitary since the War. Before the events of "Jack Thunder and the Fragments of Anima," she had only Kirami and her pet inferno cat, Ruby, for company.

Speech

Kirami's voice is smooth and calm, reflecting her controlled nature.
