Prisca

The Place of the Call

From the dawn of creation, humans called the city of Prisca home. Ancient and durable, many humans found Prisca to be a warm and safe place to develop. Throughout history, Prisca has been the location of many calls. First, the call of the Elves, inviting humans to join the world in unity. Second, the call of Redmont, when the humans who left Prisca and Ferrum joined the Elves. Third, the call of the stoic. This call came from the decree of the King of Ferrum that all of the realm should stand in unity against the forces of the dragon and remain calm. Their faith in the gods would carry them through the darkest times, and their stoic resolve would enable them to weather the storms of Bazrag and even kill his greatest lieutenant when he came to destroy the human kingdoms of Eligan. Through all of this, and all the calls to the people, Prisca stood with the Lion on its banner, ready to defend and protect.

A City of Resolve - A City in the Past

In ancient times, Prisca was the capital city of Ferrum. The throne of Parvel stood for several thousand years until near the end of the Era of Healing, when the great metal Badril was rediscovered in the eastern mountains. Previously, only Prisca held a very limited source of Badril within Mt. Deselatus. The discovery led to a mass migration, and for a century, Prisca was almost abandoned by the rest of the kingdom. But the elders of Prisca held strong to their faith and lifted high the banner. The humans of Ferrum may be stubborn, but their hearts hold fast to the past. The elders put forward the call of the Lion, and many who had left for the new city of Ferrum returned and settled their families in Prisca for good. The city would retain a strong population into the modern world.

Prisca Today

Even in the modern world, Prisca holds an important place in the hearts of the people of Ferrum. It reminds them of their strength and resolve, and many will travel to Prisca to bask in the air of Mt. Deselatus and drink from the source of the Spring River. Despite the rough history of wars between Ferrum and Redmont, Priscans tend to hold some respect for their northern cousins. They accept some travelers wishing to see the ancient city and share any folklore and history that they will hear. Despite the national symbol of Prisca changing from the Lion to the Hammer, the city still flies the ancient flag alongside the current flag of the kingdom.

Priscan Folklore

When the Elves of the Lost Lands began to wander and explore the world, they found the Eligan Peninsula particularly welcoming. They began to follow the Spring River on its winding trail until they came to their first encounter with humans, near the modern-day city of Rame. Sensing some strange, deep magic flowing from the land and around the humans, the Elves asked the humans about where they came from and whether Kraxin had invited their god to this world. The humans said they were from the land of the Lion and brought their high-born guests back to Prisca, or Parval, as they sometimes called it. They claimed to have sat under the high kings and queens of old until they began to wander under the stars of the endless night. In their wanderings, the Great Lion began to guide the people to a land where his Father, the Great King, would have need of the "Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve." One day, while the people walked where they walked, they saw the Lion disappear into a deep pool of water. Wishing to follow, they stepped forth and were brought out into the Great Currents of the Spring River. Where they climbed out was where they founded Prisca.
