Weavebloom

Basic Information

Anatomy

The weavebloom is a pretty flower which consists of a main light green stem and a light blue bulbous petal head with a small white pistil kept within.

Growth Rate & Stages

The weavebloom is naturally slow growing flower which has a hard time growing in most terrain. A singular weavebloom can produces hundreds of seeds during its life to make up for the difficulty for the plant to grow. They are produced on the inside of the head and are often carried by wind or animals. The weavebloom, does, however, have an easy time growing in environments where magic is more potent, such as weave ley lines and areas where the ley lines cross, if the environment is suitable for them.

Ecology and Habitats

The weavebloom prefers low altitude locations which are not too moist or prone to long periods of rain, it is also delicate when it comes to weather, being unsuited for both long periods of extremely warm or cold weather.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The weavebloom, though not dependent on it to survive, does seem to thrive in areas where the weave is particularly potent such as ley line crossings. It feeds little of the weave, but its connection to it is clear from its innate magical capabilities.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The weavebloom is a magical plant which is tied to the weave in interesting ways. The weavebloom has the capabilities to replicate some of the abilities of astralite, such as empowering spellcasters. It is, however, most known for its ability to detect magic, the flower will open up its head if the magic in its area is increased or if magic is being used. It has also been used to create a drink which can detect both magical races and sorcerers.

Civilization and Culture

History

The weavebloom has throughout history been used by spellcasters in various means, such as empowering their spellcasting or natural magical alarms, but its most famous use was by Thornheart. Thornheart used the flower in a simple drink known as Sorcerer's Sunder. The drink would be used on individuals believed to be either a sorcerer or a magical race such as aasimars. The drink would do nothing against normal people, but sorcerers would feel an extremely painful burning sensation throughout their entire body. The most extreme use of Sorcerer's Sunder came in the year A1 307 not long after the arcanist control guild was founded. Thornheart would use much of their reserve of Sorcerer's Sunder to infect all the wells in Eivendcross with it. Hundreds of individuals were found out to be sorcerers or have other magical conditions, all of which would be killed by Thornheart in one of their largest cleanses of magic, the event was known as the "Weavefire Purge". Thornheart would eventually use Sorcerer's Sunder less and less over the years because of the difficulty they had growing the flowers and the dwindling of sorcerers.
