Valktell Mushroom

Anatomy
The Valktell mushroom is a massive and unique mushroom. It is often light brown in color, but certain mutations can make them be white, black, green and sometimes purple. The most unique thing about the mushroom however, is its ability to grow to a massive size. An average Valktell mushroom grows to a height of 30 feet and has a stem around 18 feet in diameter. Some can grow much larger, the maximum size of a mushroom is unknown and some believe that there are mushrooms that never stop growing.
Growth Rate & Stages
A mushroom takes about 10 years to grow to 30 feet tall. This is also often the height it begins to slow down in growth, but some can continue to grow a feet each year until it reaches 100 feet where it begins to grow even slower or completely stop.
Ecology and Habitats
The mushroom thrives in dark and slightly humid areas in the underdark. It feeds on whatever dies close to its roots, the mushroom can also not grow outside of the underdark as its roots absorbs netherflum which is its main source of nutrition. Larger forests of valktell mushrooms cleans areas of netherflum, which many underdark creatures take advantage off. Many creatures in the underdark who seeks protection from the netherflum plants the mushroom in hopes of them making their homes safer, some even make the mushroom itself their home as they can be hollowed out without killing it.
