The Bleak

The Bleak is a condition that affects the heart. It is a bacterial infection that surrounds heart tissue in humanoids, eating away at the muscle fibres while simultaneously replacing it with its own mass. What remains from a healthy heart is a black, writhing heart shaped mass that functions as a heart does. Once this is complete, the Bleak rots the brain of the victim, and the body becomes an empty shell, controlled solely by a desire to feed the Bleak.

Transmission & Vectors

The condition becomes infectious once the heart has been transformed. The Bleak is then passed on via contact.

Symptoms

There are no visible symptoms, however once the Bleak has transformed the heart, the victim becomes cold to the touch, and their blood turns black. Once the brain begins decomposition, the victim loses their cognitive abilities.
