Session 2 Recap

Session 2

Following information gathered in town, the party entered the Shandywood following a rough trail through the trees. After a short travel Ursus Metallicus noticed markings that indicated a creature had marked its territory, El'Rin soon became aware of a creature, likely a wolf moving away from them.
Soon after the party realized that one or more creatures had started stalking them, continuing on with their guards up they were soon under attack by a small pack of three wolves, this proved to be of little challenge to the group.

After around 30 minutes of travelling into the woods the party came across a cave entrance. The passage was rather narrow, and Ursus had some difficulty moving through, but with some tenacity, he, and the party found the cave opening up, before them two large stone pillars guarded a clearly constructed corridor.

Whatever the structure was it had succumbed to the elements, parts of it had collapsed obstructing the corridors they encountered.
Thankfully the first room in this structure had remnants of a campsite, including 4 bedrolls, likely a place the Ork and his party had chosen to rest.
Moving towards a crossroads, a large room to the right was covered in ice, within where the frozen bodies of the Ork and his party, along with some form of magical runes. The runes seemed to be emitting cold similar to the depths of winter, exposure was somewhat painful.

Another path led to two rooms that seemed to have been filled with beds, long since decayed, along with evidence of ancient bones and other remains. A family of rats had set up a nest, and a battle ensued.
Swarm mechanics proved to be quite problematic untill a handy recall knowledge revealled that bludgeoning damage would hit true, and AOE/Splash damage would prove extra effective.

There may have been some diseases spread

Focusing on the frozen room, Ursus decided to brave the cold to attempt to disable the magical runes that seemed to be freezing the area.
The party, well J'Zargo specifically, grew impatient and decided to run through the cold and out into the opposite corridor.
Here he found a large set of double doors decorated with golden filigree.
Behind the doors was something akin to a chapel. The bones of several worshipers littered the area around the pews, and a figure was slumped over the Altar.
Upon entering the figure began to move, returning to a standing position it began to talk in an ancient language. El'Rin and Sal Maclennane joined J'Zargo and listened to this priest speak for a time.
But the party, well J'Zargo specifically, grew impatient and greedy. As he attempted to pilfer the golden filigree from the door, the priest reacted and seemed to cast a spell, J'Zargo was compelled to "Approach, Kneel, and repent" to which he complied.
J'Zargo, Sal Maclennane and El'Rin listened to the priest speak for several minutes, quickly realizing he was repeating the same thing.
Ursus Metallicus managed to return the runic magic to its intended function, whatever that was.
The party, well J'Zargo specifically, grew bored of listening to the priests sermon, and marched forward.

The last room accessible to the party was a giant Library. Most of the books had long since withered away, but Ursus Metallicus was able to find a few sheets that seemed to include images of destruction, including cities flooding, towers collapsing, mountains exploding.

At the back of the room there was a large door, and 15ft before that there was a glass display case that held one perfectly preserved book
Some investigation of the room took place untill someone decided that smashing the glass display was the best course of action.

Upon breaking a mechanical hum was heard, the door began to raise, and outstepped some form of mechanical creatures.
