Feather of Doom

The most famous feather in Alma, coming from an ancient Quorrra bird that no longer exists and could never be caught. The legend about its origins talk about the hero Cymbolth who was the bravest man of his age. He fell in love with  princess who didn't reciprocate his feelings. Cymbolth was told by a magician that if he caught the bird he could make a love potion that would win her over. Cymbolth chased the bird, using many tricks, but alas he couldn't manage to catch it. One day, despeare and tired by his hunt, he got attacked by a bear and wounded. The bird, hearing his pleas, came to the rescue and shed some tears over hero's wounds that have magically closed. Now Cymbolth could not bring himself to kill the bird. But the bird left him one feather out of his tail and told him that if he ever wrote a letter or a poem with it, he would inevitably touch the heart of the recipient.    Cymbolth was a bit sceptical, since he hadn't displayed any talent for letters before, but he decided to take his chance. Upon his return to the court, he produced a poem to the princess, and lo and behold, she was so moved by it her heart warmed to the hero and they've married. After that the feather was kept in a place of honour and Cymbolth became one of the most prominent bards of his era, thanks to the inspiration it bestowed.   Alas, the story of the magical feather doesn't end here.    Jealous of his fame, another aspiring poet from a  wealthy family hired a team of thieves to get the feather for him. It so happened, that the princess - now queen married to Cymbolth - heart the noise and went into the chamber to see what was going on. The thieves killed her and ran away. After he learned of it, despairing Cymbolth cursed anyone who would come in the possession of the feather. The curse seemed to have been successful. After a series of misfortunes befell its successive owners, and the feather became known now as The Feather of Doom. Eventually someone who came in its possession was wise enough to appeal for divine help. For a long time it rested secluded in an old shrine of God Aar where it was said it belonged to no-one and was protected by the God himself. Human stupidity being what it is though, after 200 hundred years someone dared to steal it away, possessed by a desire to produce more unparalleled writing. Unfortunately, this time the identity of the owner remained a secred. We do know that the thief died though. It remains a mystery whether a powerful magician had actually managed to lift the curse, as some say, or the feather simply perished with its last owner in some dark forsaken corner of Alma.    Many descriptions exist of the feather, but they don't agree in any details, except for the fact that it definitley looks magnificent.
