The Order of the Golden Brazier

Following the end of the Second Age and the fall of the gods, there were many people of faith who had lost their purpose. From them many groups tried to start up and find a place in the world once more, and the Golden Brazier was amongst them, approaching the loss of the divine as a sign that the people were not devout and pure enough. While they have several strongholds dotted across the lands, they are mostly nomadic in nature, traveling from settlement to settlement, purging any evil or corruption they see, even if the locals do not agree with them, with inquisitorial zeal. This has put them at odds with many places and people, but they are often abided by the powers that could interfere due to their aid in dealing with true threats, such as necromantic incursions or dealing with raiders and bandit camps.

Structure

Divine Parriarch - Leader of the Golden Braziers, amongst their followers their word is absolute. The role is lifelong upon acquisition.   Divine Ascender - Chosen inheritor and heir of the Order. Calificadors put forth candidates within the first year of a new Parriarch from amongst their ranks and the Parriarch selects their successor from them.   Archcalificador - Leader of the Order within a country or notable region. Name is often shortened to Archcal by locals   Calificador - Order representative that serves below an Archcalificador, covering Earldoms and Counties. Often called Cals or Cali, depending on the region.   Judicar - Local representative, equivalent to a church's priest. Many of this rank lead processions across the lands.   Acolyte - Those in service of the Order, found attending to those of every rank in the Golden Brazier. Judicars are promoted from the most faithful and zealous amongst them.

Culture

For many leaders of those outside the Order, the Golden Brazier is equal parts help and headache. The members of the Order seek to help as many as they can, but this aid does not come freely, for they expect the people to be as rightous as themselves, and to provide assistance or coin to their ongoing crusade. To many they can almost come across as divine-themed mercenaries, however they will not hold the innocent in their debt when they do deal with the dark elements across the land that they fight. The Order's members are generally not worshipers of the gods, though some of the more rightous deities find clerics amongst the Order's numbers. Leadership consider themselves the allies of entities such as angels, and while there have been times when such beings have come to the aid of Order members, there are no indicators of any true alliance or working relationship between the two.   Members of the Order of the Golden Brazier believe that to lie is to bring dirt upon your soul, and thus many are brutally honest even when they shouldn't be. While celebrations of events and milestones is done, most of the time they are adverse to more showy affairs, and drink is only had as part of a ritual or meal. They generally follow the laws of the local lands, but have been prone to trying to take justice into their own hands when they deem someone to be deserving of a punishment. Some countries or provinces have allowed for the Order to conduct their own trials within their boarders, mostly in locations where the Order is needed to keep back some kind of threat.   Order members do what they can to raise funds for the Golden Brazier, which gets passed up the chain and dispersed to places in need. The primary seat of the Order is in Denson and thus a fair amount of the local culture has influenced the whole of the Order, including elements such as desert headwraps being part of the standard attire regardless of local weather or customs, and a preference for rice-based meals, stews and curries as the choice for celebrations and events, as well as rice-based wine, despite grape wine's commonality within Denson.

Assets

Tower of Contemplation - Considered to be the main heart of the Order, the Tower is in Denson lands, close to the boarder of the desert of the Grand Wastes. It is here that the Divine Parriarch calls home, and all messages are sent to and from for the whole of the Order. Many floors are dedicated to mapping out the movements of the Order's members as well as the threats they aim to face. This centre of logistics has become a location of interest for local authority, and the government of Denson have a deal with the Order to allow them to make use of the tower's information from time to time in exchange for the local area being considered the territory and jurisdiction of the Order of the Golden Brazier.   Altok Heights - nestled within the Corfix mountains is Altok, a town sitting on a rather rich iron vein. Here, the Order have a dominating presence, fighting and slaying a blue dragon that once harassed the town. Now, they are in essence owners of Altok Heights, the foundry and construction yard built into the former lair of the dragon. This location provides almost all of the weapons and armour for the Order, as well as a good amount of funding from trading of non-military type equipment they make in excess.
