Storm Goddess Valley

Geography

It is a thin and long vale, practically a mountain pass that passes through Mt. Eddar, the western mountain and Mt. Freidr, the eastern mountain. These two mountains are said to attract the great thunder spirits of old, and were the ancient dominions of an unnamed and forgotten goddess of storms and thunder. Now, those ancient storm spirits have inhabited the rock itself and manifest themselves through colossal stone statues of women with glowing crystals for eyes. These statues are said to lure travelers to their deaths by getting them to climb up to dig up their valuable crystal eyes. Then, as the unsuspecting traveler(s) are guided upward by their own greed, the stone statues call upon their powers of thunder and knock the greedy travelers away, making them either fall into the river below or fall onto the hard rocks, probably to their deaths. These stone guardians are said to protect a great treasure of storms that lies hidden somewhere at the end of the vale. It is said this treasure of storms was the weapon of an ancient mage who hid it here because it was too powerful to fall into the wrong hands.

Fauna & Flora

Most of the vale's life lies in and around the main river that runs across the pass. Most plants here are small and tend to be more like shrubs and ferns rather than tall trees. Many of the fish living in this river are very strong swimmers and taste particularly well with a side of pepper. Certain less sane cooks even travel up here just to snatch a couple of fish and cook them into a delicious meal. Of course, this area is also home to many uncommon species of mountain goats.

Natural Resources

The great stone statues hold many gems and ores within their stone bodies and their eyes are made up of shiny crystals that are bound to sell for a pretty coin back at a marketplace. This is how the statues claim unsuspecting travelers's lives and prevent them from reaching the end of the vale. They lure travelers up towards them with empty promises of riches to satisfy one's greed. The two mountains are also said to contain metals and gemstones. At the foot of Mt. Freidr, a local mining company has set up a small mine to extract the mountain's resources. The mine is usually well guarded, as goblins and other undesirables roam these mountains.
