Planum Astralis

The Planum Astralis is a reflection of the physical world, where the light of the stars strips the world of all its color to allow one to view the true nature of all living beings: their animae. The more powerful a being is, the brighter their anima will shine here. Abjuration in this realm is far stronger too, as it if was closer to the celestial sources. Aside from animae, abjuration is the only other thing with color in this realm, making its identification easy. For this fact alone, the act of walking across, or even stepping foot into this plane is extremely rare, and something that has fascinated abjurers for millenia.
Near-forgotten legends say the Elves once found a way to enter this mythic realm, which they viewed as sacred and believed was the home of their gods. Supposedly, the tools to access this plane still remain, hidden away within their ancient ruins. Many have searched, but none since the Silver Age have managed to return to this realm, or rather, none who have wished to share that information.
This astral realm has a deep and mysterious connection to dreaming and dreams. The elves believed that whenever one dreamt, they entered this realm as a temporary visitor, unaware of their existence until they left it. Many Elven texts speak of "dreamers" who have gained a powerful connection to this realm by making some kind of holy pilgrimage to enter it. Whatever the reason for this, it is undeniable the act of dreaming is deeply connected with this realm, though no Imperial scholars have ever managed to figure out why.
