"It's rare, very rare, that you get a chance like this. As a geologist, this new emergence is fascinating. As a neighbour, I'm sorry for the toll that was paid" - Professor Stolo of Cathquoile university, speaking on her studies into the occurrences.39 years prior to the Wailing, in the year 799, a child was found with stone skin and red-hot veins. Hot to the touch, this child appeared not to be of any tribe that was established before. 809, 29 years prior to the Wailing, a man was working on his farm when he doubled over in agony, seeming to combust. The aftermath left him burns across his body that healed into black rock with the qualities of obsidian. 819, 19 years prior to the Wailing, two were found wandering the forests of Tolosí, claiming to be looking for their father. Even before the Wailing, strange occurrences of people made of rock have happened. Now the fires have stemmed, people have noticed something strange. Anyone born in what was the Vula territory now have rock hard skin and constant warmth, able to be sustained on sticks and coal and wood. Named Laguera, many people speculate this to be the tribe that uprooted the Vula. Although before the Wailing, there were a few instances of their early appearance, especially around Tolosí. Not much is known about Laguera at current. Those who did exist were shown to be immune to the fires that burned, and seem to be able to control their own rocky bodies or the igneous rock in their possession. Some can even melt it. Due to their suspected role in the Wailing, they are widely shunned. However, may hold onto their children regardless, viewing family above their cultural loss. This distrust spans passed the Vula, many tribes cannot see past the tragedy inflicted.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Laguera range from partially rock to fully, despite this, many retain a full range of motion. Sometimes brittle, but many have managed to figure out how to re-enforce themselves to have tougher, stronger skin. Many's firelike core shows through their eyes, people describing them as blazing, always emitting some degree of light. Laguera are generally hot to the touch, but this is particularily true for the fissure present on some of their skin, showing as cracks of heat. Some's are constantly smoking, others do momentarily when emotions run high, some never at all.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Laguera are rather unique in their complete lack of standard needs. They do not need light like a fenwyn, or food or water. Instead many crave what you would use to feed a forge, wood, coal, peat, anything that could feed a flame. Many are also particularily prone to suffering in the cold, but this doesn't seem to be to the point of it being especially deadly.
