White Summit Mountains
The white tips of the mountains can be seen from hundreds of miles away, a stark contrast to the surrounding, relatively flat and green landscapes.
Geography
The White Summit Mountains run east to west in Onira, on the north-western side they touch the Midthon Grove and on the south-western side they touch the quiet thicket. Most of the mountain range to the north touches the White Wasteland. The mountains are quite tall and very rugged in some places, many of the peaks are forever covered in snow.. They are nearly impossible to cross on foot.
Ecosystem
The mountains are home to hardy species including mountain goats, mountain bears, and a variety of large prehistory birds. A couple hundred feet up the mountains is the tree line, not many species have adapted to live at that altitude or temperature. There are rumors that some sort of large monster lives there, no one has recorded its existence.
History
The White Summit Mountains are the oldest geography feature in Onira. They were created when two tectonic plates smashed together, they still grow a few inches every year. The dwarves have lived in these mountains for hundreds of generations, it is unclear exactly when the gnomes moved in with them.
