Material Characteristics

Warp metal is a commonly used type of metal on Palar invented by the Palari race. It is a silvery, shiny metal that can shift from a liquid state and back when it reacts to electricity. It is mildly magnetic too. Magnets can be used to manipulate it's state in liquid form and change it's shape when it hardens again.
It can go from a liquid to solid state in less than a second, and is non-toxic to to the skin of most creatures. Colored powder can be mixed into the liquid solution to change it's color in solid state. Warp Metal is very flexible, bends and folds easily, but does not break or tear.

Warp metal is made of a wide variest of raw chemicals and metals that are exclusive to Palar, but abundant and extremely common in the planet's surface.

History & Usage

Cultural Significance and Usage

Warp metal is used in Warp Suits, a special type of uniform that Palari wear. Warp suits are small devices full of warp metal filament that is strapped onto the back, and connects wirelessly to a computerized wrist device. The back pack uses a mix of magnets and electrical poses to manipulate warp metal and reshape it, using instructions from the computer.
The computer can have a wide array of clothing designs installed onto it, and it will use warp metal filaments to recreate the style on the user. This allows the user to have essentially, shape shifting clothing at the touch of a button.
Designs are often modeled on a computer and sold in online stores, meaning Palari rarely have to leave their homes to shop for clothes. The Warp suit's default mood is a plain, skin tight leotard made of warped strips of tinted warp metal.
THe warp suits can also be used for other races and species that are humanoid in nature, as the device always scans a new user for their body proportions and where important orifices are.

History

Warp metal was originally invented to be used in practical machinery and homes as a sturdy but malleable fabric, and while it still is, it's popularity truly took off at the invention of warp suits. Warp suits started out as a fad but Palari soon realized that producing and purchasing one warp suit was way cheaper than an entire wardrobe of clothes.
Warp suits are used in fashion, in work, and they can even make effective space suits for inter galactic travel. A space variant of the warp suit was equipped with extra safety mechanisms to make them more appropriate for space travel, such as a breathing apparatus, helmet, heating/cooling systems, and monitor for physical status.
