Bio Domes

Bio Domes are massive domes that surround large cities on the planet of Palar and many of the Palari colonies.

Development

The bio-domes started as small projects to create livable habitats for researchers exploring uninhabitable planets in Palar's neighboring solar system. They started out small, about the size of a large tent, and could only function for a little over a few months before researchers had to return home.   Has the technology advanced however, the domes got larger and could last longer. Camp-sized ones that lasted a year, Outpost-sized ones that lasted 10 years, and so on.

Invention

The final goal for bio-domes were a large scale project. A dom that could fit any radius and run completely on renewable resources, making it effectively permanent. The first bio-dome was deployed successfully around the Primary City of Tanaesq. This was to ensure if there were any complications, it was being tested on a safe environment.

Effect

After the success of the first successful Bio-dome, it was clear after a few years that the citizens of Tanasq were healthier and happier than other major cities. This was cloncluded to be the result of the dome protecting the people from the slowly degrading quality of Palar's atmosphere.   After these results, bio domes were slowly but surely installed in nearly every significant city on the planet, as a means of protecting the people from the polluted air that was harming the Palari.   Because of the permanent nature of the bio-domes, they started being deployed on the aforementioned inhospitable planets, now finally able to set up functioning cities and colonize them. Thanks to bio-domes, the Palari have been able to not only colonize every planet in their solar system, but have been able to move out into other solar systems in the galaxy and colonize planets rich with valuable resources.

Function

Bio domes are large domes that surround a certain area with a round metal gate, and project, perfectly circular, a semi-transparent force-field around the area of the gate. The force field blocks all matter, including gasses, and traps precious oxygen inside, not allowing it to leak out.   Mordern bio-domes are temperature controled, solar powered and are able to produce the life sustaining air the Palari need on it's own. They are often adapted with structures along the lining that replicated rain, wind, and snow, thus recreating normal weather patterns inside the dome.   Some domes can project light and images of a sky and clouds. This completely replicates the environment of Palar for those colonizing a moon or planet lacking atmosphere. Bringing plant and animal life into the dome is also important to create a stable environment inside of domes.
