Julian moves up in the world

Julian is adopted, goes to school, makes a friend, and gets a good job.

When he was twelve, on a dare, he attempted to lift the coin purse of a captain of the city watch, Ason Chamberlain. The guard captain caught the young boy, and rather than imprison him, took him in and raised him as a son. He taught Julian how to read and how to fight, and enrolled him in the royal academy, usually reserved for the children of the connected and powerful. Julian excelled at fencing and the rapier, as well as more traditional studies. He grew into a handsome young man, but was not popular amongst the noble children as he would often show them up in activities and classes. He did forge a friendship with Raynor Burnham, the son of an unpopular noble.   After the academy, Julian and Raynor joined the military as intelligence gatherers, which was a fancy term for spies. Between 1280 AYD and 1286 AYD they completed a number of assignments, helping to ensure the strength and survival of the military in engagements against the countries many enemies.
