Atenïor (/ɑtɛnioɹ/)

Atenïor is a pristine, nature-dominated planet, containing millions of plant varieties. The small amount of fauna and governmental protections keep this planet virtually untouched. The planet is often utilized for scientific research, particularly in the fields of botany, flora cultivation, and Eco-restoration[1].

Overview

Atenïor's surface is dominated by lush, sprawling forests, serene grasslands, and crystal-clear rivers. Unlike most habitable planets, Atenïor possesses millions of unique plant varieties but is home to a surprisingly limited number of fauna species[2]. This unusual imbalance has led researchers to believe the planet's ecological systems evolved in a highly plant-centric manner, with flora dominating nearly every ecosystem.   To preserve its delicate environment, planetary laws strictly regulate all physical and technological interference. Industrialization, heavy construction, and resource mining are strictly forbidden. Only licensed research teams, Eco-collectives, and planetary caretakers are permitted on the surface under careful oversight.

Appearance

From Space

Atenïor, viewed from orbit, appears as a magnificent emerald jewel amidst the dark backdrop of space. The surface is dominated by large continents of lush green forests, vast grasslands and shimmering wetlands. There are a plethora of rivers winding throughout the surface, leading to vast oceans of dark blue water. The absence of large-scale urbanization or industrial development lends the planet an untouched, vibrant quality, lacking the scars that civilization usually leads to. Thin bands of misty white clouds weave across the atmosphere, often settling in valleys and hovering over lakes, creating a tranquil appearance. From high above, the planet’s rich biomes appear to glow softly under Atenïor's golden-yellow star, with day and night cycles casting dramatic contrasts across its lush terrain.

On the Surface

Stepping onto the surface of Atenïor reveals a pristine, almost a surreal enivroment. Researchers have often described the experience of Atenïor as being "a step into untouched beauty," where every detail evokes a sense of timeless peace and wonder.   Near the edge of the Spiralwoods, towering trees with dark green canopies dominate the forest's top. These imposing trees, called Kalshrï, stand upwards of 145 meters tall, dwarfing any nearby flora. The air on the surface of Atenïor is crisp, carrying a faint floral aroma, created by the countless plant species. In the grasslands,

Governmental Protections

Atenïor is protected under the Atenïor Preservation Act (APA)[5], which enforces the following measures:
  1. Limited Access: Only authorized personnel with valid research licenses can enter the planet. Visitors are restricted to orbital research stations or designated zones.
  2. No Industrial Activity: All forms of resource extraction, manufacturing, and urbanization are strictly prohibited.
  3. Eco-Drones: Autonomous drones constantly patrol the surface, monitoring for signs of unauthorized activity, illegal settlements, or environmental damage.
Violations of these protections carry severe penalties, including blacklisting from galactic scientific research, planetary bans and/or fines upwards of 10,000.

Trivia

  • Some plants native to Atenïor have unique sensory responses and can react to physical interaction, leading to myths about "sentient forests."[3]
  • The planet is often featured in Eco-documentaries across the LightNet.
