Indomitable Dominion of Galaxis
The Indomitable Dominion of Galaxis, the Betrayed Kingdom, is now under the strict rule of Ajax the Invincible Overlord, who is continuing to mobilize his forces against all neighboring kingdoms in his attempt to expand his rule to the entire continent of Qualia.
History
Up until about 15 years ago (in the year 401 4A), there was a Kingdom run by Good King Omen. He was a fair king, and just. All was well in the realm and in the continent of Qualia. Until Omen was betrayed by his first Knight and former pupil Akin Skymaster, who had shifted allegiance to serve Ajax, the Invincible. Ajax slew Good King Omen, ruining forever the kingdom of Galaxis. Ajax then took the throne, declared himself Overlord and the "Iron Saint", and militarized the nation. He has been mobilizing and trying to expand his rule since then, encroaching on the nearby nations.The Momento of Omen
Infuriated by the change in leadership, many citizens of the Betrayed Kingdom began to rise up against Ajax, claiming an unfair rule. These rebellions were swiftly and painfully crushed by Ajax and his Iron Legion. One such incident in 404 4A, the Memento of Omen, was so vile and immediate that it decimated the landscape in a 350 mile radius. Ajax sent an ancient black dragon - Vilanthis, the Spawn of Corruption, Evoker of Terror, Reviler of the meek, and now the Eviscerator of the Lifetree - to scorch the lands that resisted him most. The result was an unprecented scorching of the land, turning the area into an acidic wasteland. Indeed, that landscape is forever a monument to the might of Ajax and the futility of resisting him. Though no one knows exactly how Ajax was able to convince such a vile dragon to assist him in the destruction of his own people, it is presumed that Vilanthis has made his new lair in the Acidic Wastelands and is independant of Ajax, not participating in his wars against neighboring nations.Neighboring territory disputes
After three long years of consolidating power within the Betrayed Kingdom, Ajax set his sights on the Kingdom of Kathaar first. Caught in an internal struggle of its own, the Kingdom was largely overtaken by Ajax. Banding together in a tentative alliance, the Kathaarian Pact was made in 405 with Twin Crowns and Valinor to defend against the Betrayed Kingdom. So far, the forces have been at a stalemate, back and forth since then. Dianmallo has remained publically neutral but has sold mercenaries to the effort in a subversive political attempt to resist the Dominion.Leadership Structure
Ajax the Invincible Overlord is the tyrant who rules the Kingdom from his throne. Next to his seat of power and in charge of the military forces is Akin Skymaster, the powerful Ignoble of Galaxis. He is perpetually dark robed and his face is covered with an arcane mask of unknown powers. Some might suggest it is to hide his shame at betraying Good King Omen. Others believe that Good King Omen scarred Akin in their fight, wherein Akin lost but wounded Omen deep enough for Ajax to finish the job. In return, Ajax "blessed" Akin with his mask to alleviate his wounds.Military
There are at least 3 public military units for the Indomitable Dominion. Ranging from the most populous to the most elite, they are as follows: The Iron Legion: Heavily armored, slow but durable. Soldiers conscripted from the populace, often through force or coercion, their tasks include: Guarding key locations, suppressing rebellions, and serving as the backbone of the army. Iron Legion members can be discerned from their black and grey plate armor and heavy weapons. The Dread Knights: Mounted knights with heavy armor and powerful charges. These are prestigious order of heavily armored knights, loyal to the crown and skilled in mounted combat, whose tasks entail larger offensives, being shock troopers, and loyal bodyguards to essential nobility. Dread Knights can be discerned from their onate plate armor and golden helmet inlayed with silver and iron filigree. The Immortal Guard: Of all the warriors in the Betrayed Kingdom, none are as terrifying as the Immortal Guard. A highly selective group of warriors, often gifted with extraordinary abilities or enhanced through magic, their tasks involve: Protecting the Overlord, guarding strategic locations, and leading elite strike teams. The Immortal Guard can be discerned through the unnatural tattoos on their body, sometimes covering their face as well as arms. They wear various armor types.Hidden Cults
Throughout the continent are cults and secretive organizations that spread the praises of Ajax to persuade the citizens to accept his reign when he inevitably succeeds.
