Emât's Watch
The Emât's Watch guard is the local law enforcement of the Dianmallo Arcane District. Due to the magic nature of this district, it is a requirement that all members of the Watch must be magic users, and capable of taking down magic users of varying degrees. All of them have some magical training, and are constantly equipped (through scrolls or inherent talent) with counterspells, dispel magic, and other abilities that lend themselves to making magic users inert.
For this reason, the Watch is often relegated to the Arcane District, and must have permission from the King to be able to extend past their borders. There is concern that if the Watch were permitted leniency throughout the city, then they would surely become a formidable force.
Indeed, there is great tension between the Watch and the Orthomancers as it is. Tensions have a way of building up, so if these two factions ever meet in full strength, there is not a little bit of concern that would fall upon the populace.
