Celia Fenthris
The story of Lady Fenthris is truly a tragic tale. Not too long ago (about 8 years or so), Lord Fenthris was stricken with a deathly condition that spelled his doom. In a frenzy of love to return her dearly departed, Celia turned to the dark arts to bring her love back from the grave. Whether it be a mishap in the ritual, a scheme of the one who sold her the secrets, or some other foul purpose, the ritual went horribly wrong. Celia turned her entire district into undead, and became a vampire lord in her own right.
Because of her husband’s claim to the High Council, Celia retained her position as High Lady, claiming that her husband shall return one day to resume his duties, and she would be his interim until that day arrived. She accomplished this largely through maintaining her husband’s duties as a tax collector. Collecting the taxes throughout the city proved easy when it was undead doing the collection. Thus, she piled up a vast financial resource that she has begun to use against the city. She has refused to give the tax funds to the government until her husband returns to complete his duty. Thus far, no one has challenged her on this, though some members of the nobility are starting to show concern about the financial well-being of their beloved city-state.
It is rumored that Celia has been growing her network of undead. Some believe it is to guard the ever-growing pile of resources she has been hoarding. Others, who are more skeptical in nature, are worried it is to take the city hostage until they come up with the means to resurrect her beloved deceased husband.
