The Vollak Invasion
The Conflict
Prelude
The Vollak had been lurking on the outskirts of Scythia for months and King Rayth had done nothing. His military was a disaster, having grown lazy from years of peace, and no one was there to protect the villages the Vollak sacked. The only one who cared, or so it seemed, was Princess Rynn. Under the guise of a fictional Captain Aelgan Revine, Rynn rallied the troops and got them training again. She slapped them into action with her harsh criticism and no-nonsense attitude, until they were ready to do their job again. By then, the Vollak had grown more bold and come further toward the center of Scythia.
Deployment
Rynn led her troops into battle, lining them up to defend their kingdom. When the Vollak came again, The Scythian Guard was ready.

The battle took place on a rocky plateau between the capital and the lower cities. Rynn and her men had the high ground.
The Engagement

When the Vollak struck, the battle commenced. Many members of the Guard were lost, but many of the Vollak were vanquished.
Outcome

As the Guard vanquished their foes, the surviving Vollak fled back into Thienid, and Rynn was praised as a hero.
Aftermath

After the battle, a tradition began to celebrate The Masked Captain. Each year, on the anniversary of the Scythian victory, a masquerade was thrown in her honor.
