Aleos

Forged within the Mystic Flame is the World of Aleos. Its existing state is maintained through Iron, Blood, Duty, and Sacrifice in the face of endless war. Horrors beyond comprehension stalk the ruins of abandoned temples as monstrous creatures keep entire towns in a state of constant terror. Yet the world is large, its lands diverse. The flatlands that cover great swaths of territory are broken by mountainous ranges where those that seek to understand the Void often come to. Woodlands harbor many beasts, some deeply effected by the type they're in. Enchanted woods, where the divines are worshipped have caused even the most mundane beast to grow larger than average, and become far more docile then their kin. Entire regions corrupted by the Gaze of the Dark Goddess has brought forth unholy, twisted creatures. The animals that have would be found therein have festered into warped creatures.   Several great powers rule over these lands. the peace between them strained even at the best of times. Many smaller kingdoms, free peoples, enclaves, cutlitsts, and renegade warriors act as a thorn to them. These little people fiercely hold onto their independance, their honor and identity is thier pride.   There has been much speculation of the possibility of another world beyond the mountains, and of brothers lost during the World-Storms. Though these are only theories, they hold a dark implication. Most dismiss their words as fear mongering, though no one can truly deny the possibility. The name of these mountains depends on how a person views that possibility. For some is it simply the Black Mountains, the edge of the world. There is nothing more, except possibly the home of the gods. Others call it the Mountains of Hope, for there must be something more. Whatever it is must be a lot better than what people have, if only people were brave enough to seek it.
