The Shade Legion

The Shade Legion is one of six orc tribes of Drakthirr. They live in the northwestern part of the continent and claim large lands in the mountains of Drakthirr. The Shade Legion is known for its incredibly high population of goblins and further their education.

Geography

The territory claimed by the Shade Legion is located in the north-western part corner of Drakthirr. Especially the goblins house large territories in the mountain ranges. The total territory measures about 45.000 square miles. South of the Shade Legion lives the Tribe of The Green Stranglers and to their east The Ruthless Skullbreakers, which are a close ally and kind of a sub-tribe of the Shade Legion. Their capital Vogh Udzu is located east of Bone Lake on the border towards The Green Stranglers.

Climate and Vegetation

The Shade Legion lives in a temperate climate zone. The temperatures reach from 6°C in winters to 30°C in summers. The territory is rather dry. The ground can be described as badlands and is very dusty and earthy, often infertile. The flora of the western half of the territory is very sparse, and only smaller plants like bushes. The eastern part is a large mountain range overgrown by smaller trees, bushes, and different grasses. The fauna is adapted to the circumstances of the climate and flora. In the wastelands, only a few animals can be found, especially wild animals like boars and goats, but also predators like wyvern, and various insects.

Society and Politics

The society of the Shade Legion is very different from other orc tribes. Usually, goblins are used to do laborious work or are used as meatshields in battles. The Shade Legion, however, gives many goblins good martial education. The goblins are known to be very sneaky and efficient assassins, yet still, the hierarchy of orcs and goblins follows the traditional routes even with goblins being treated much better than usual.
Like most other tribes, the Shade Legion is divided into multiple smaller tribes, some of them containing almost exclusively goblins and very few orcs.
