The First Blades

The First Blades are the oldest of all clans. They hold the eastern territory of Drakthirr and are one of the most feared enemies of Humans. The population of the tribe is dominated by Orcs and the clan is known to be proficient in defensive warfare, which is a rarity among orcs.

Geography

The territory of the First Blades is located in eastern Drakthirr. It reaches from the Central Forest to the border between Drakthirr and Ephea. They hold about 30.000 square miles of territory and are therefore a rather small tribe compared to other tribes of the Orcs. Their capital Ugan Bel is a former human fortress, which was conquered and reinforced by orcs in 8573 b. BF.

Climate and Vegetation

The First Blades live in a temperate climate zone. The temperatures reach from 6°C in winters to 30°C in summers. The territory is exposed to a lot of rainfall, however, due to the magic of the orcs, it was weakened especially. The ground can be described as badlands and is very dusty and earthy, often infertile. The flora of the southern half of the territory is very sparse, and only smaller plants like bushes. The northern part is overgrown by a small forest. The fauna is adapted to the circumstances of the climate and flora. In the wastelands, only a few animals can be found, especially wild animals like boars and goats, but also predators like wyvern, and various insects.

Society and Politics

The First Blades are a relatively small tribe. 1 million Orcs and 1 million goblins belong to the clan. Due to the "lack" of goblins, not all orcs can afford to use goblins as meatshields in battle. The orcs of the First Blades are known to be exceptional warriors, even for other orcs. They follow the traditional orc culture with an even higher emphasis on war. Opposite to other tribes, the First Blades reinforced some locations towards their borders and use these fortresses as defensive control points. Just like other tribes, the First Blades are divided into multiple smaller tribes led by a war chief or general.
