Remorhaz, sometimes called polar worms, are large centipede-like creatures that reside in
Borea's underground caves. Remorhaz have leathery tough wings (which they don't use for flight but can slow their falls with), an insect-like head, and a 40 feet (12 meters) scaly body. They are ice-blue in color, with dozens of legs and a back that glows red with an inner fire that could melt all but the strongest of metals.
Using the Remorhaz
The Remorhaz are very dangerous but can be used for many things by underground dwellers. Their scales can make a decent armor that is well insulated. Their meat is rather good when spiced and easy to get large quantities of from a small number of the creatures. The oil they sometimes secrete can be used to make many heating elements and has some
Arcane Magic properties.
Some have tamed Remorhaz and kept them as guards, but this is a highly dangerous practice as the creatures much prefer saving their own life over anything else. Some raised from eggs can become good protectors, but it's rare to find their eggs exposed.
