The Orcish Take
The Orcish Take is a region in north-western Albion that is comprised primarily of Orcs, Giants, and other dangerous creatures. Originally, the take covered the whole western side of the mainland almost reaching the elvish territory of Nyth Noelle, but an alliance between the elves and the humans of Sonora allowed both forces to layer their attacks and push the Take's borders up nearly to the northern sea. Now, most of the Orcs remain crunched up against the mountains of the west, the volcanic Hellgarden to the east, the harsh snows of the Thrymscrown of the north, and the well-guarded walls of Fort Callion to the south.
Geography
- Hellgarden & The Hellsbrooke: Hellgarden is the massive volcano and volcanic area surrounded by near-impassable obsidian mountain terrain, housing Thorm the Fire Giant and his army of fire elementals as well as other creatures. It is also the sight of a Realmsheart Forge, the ancient forges of the fire giants capable of smithing armor and weapons of legendary power. Attached below is the Dreadmire, where demons and devils emerge to battle against one another in a similar fashion to the Blood War back in the Planes Below.
- Thrymscrown: The great mountains to the north hide a number of different secrets, believed to be the land that the frost giant god Thrym wanders upon. It is nearly impossible to pass through to the top of the landmass, but it is no doubt home to many frost giants and other terrifying beasts, particularly aberrations and beasts of the Underdark.
- Ohz'gruum: The main tribal city of the Orcs of the Take, this city is ruled by Morde Bloodheathen with a strictly kept caste system and organization amongst the various unified tribes, keeping strictly to the Orcish Gods in terms of faith and spirituality.
- The Dreadmire: A swamp filled with demonic growths and rifts that lead to the Abyss of the Below, this place is filled to the brim with abyssal parasites and vegetation, as well as malformed and demonic entities that have spilled out from the various tears within the swamp. Various tribes of yuan-ti, marsh elves, bog goblins, and swamp fey reside here, as well as factions of swamp orcs, demons, and other fiends.
- Haxcross Ridge: These are the mountains to the north of the Take, claimed by the Stonewraith Goliaths as well as the Mountain Giants and Earth Genasi of the realm. Serving as a natural border between Thrymscrown and the rest of the Take, Haxcross frequently finds themselves in conflict with the northerners of the snow and ice.
- The Sagehorns: This colossal mountain range sits at the northwest part of the Take, seated at the upper edge of the Shattered Coast and filled with lush pale-green trees. Within it is said to be untold amounts of the rare metal Orichalcum, a versatile and sought after ore that is capable of holding powerful enchantments well, being extensively durable, and is well known for being an excellent metal to develop alloys with due to its eclectic nature in terms of reaction to mixing.
- The Shattered Coast: This coastal beach to the west of the Orcish Take houses all manner of sundered ships and destroyed or abandoned settlements from old times. The mountains of Haxcross border each side of this tiny gulf, and this is one of the few existing sand beaches in all of Albion.
- Dordoom: A location within the Orcish Take.
History
- The Demonic Incursion: The unified campaign of Bane and Grummsh originated in the Take, their rift opening up within the swamp that would become known as the Dreadmire. Their actions are what turned the mire into the fiendish marsh that it is today, filled to the brim with demons and other dark entities both from and not from the Abyss Below.
- Zahm the Feybane: The campaign of Zahm the Feybane gave rise to the alliance between the Humans and the Elves, as Zahm rose up as the Dominus of the time. His defeat saw to the creation of Fort Callion and the great wall known as the Reins.
