The House of Brewers
The House of Brewers is Morne's active alchemist's guild, focused on creating potions, experiments, and alchemical substances for the Kingdom. Residing within the region of Harmonia, the House of Brewers is credited with great advances in medicine and treatment, nearly nullifying the need for clerics and divine healing, though they have not learned how to end curses due to their soul-effecting nature.
Structure
- Grand Alchemist: The high Alchemist and leader of the guild as a whole, the current Grand Alchemist is Lady Amber Creed, a female golden dragonborn.
- Simic Specialists: These are the alchemists and scientists concerned purely with Assimilation Projects.
Culture
Most of the House of Brewers do not actively denounce the gods, but believe that mortals as a whole have moved past the need to worship and kneel before them, not able to create their own forms of life.
Assets
The House of Brewers has created a number of different potions and elixirs used for commercial and recreational purposes, receiving palpable funding by the Mornish Guard to develop various philters and such:
- Assimilated Hybrids: These are alchemical creatures built for the express purpose of being able to survive in a variety of different environments and hold a number of different biological abilities. Originally began as a method to regrow limbs lost in mining accidents, the project was soon funded to try new appendages such as gills, tentacles, acidic spit, and so on. This would grow into people getting Simic Attachments and Modifications added to their bodies, and recently in the past decade the latest experiments have allowed the Alchemists to create a living being with a soul by use of a fusion of Necromancy and Science.
- Illusory Ink: This ink is used for hidden messages exchanged between mages and discrete parties.
- Faerie Paint: This paint is infused with powerful bioluminescence that glows even in magical darkness, marking enemies and making them easy to spot at night.
- Tangle Oil: This oil turns into a solid glue and is used to prevent criminals from escaping
Foreign Relations
The House of Brewers has been subject to merciless criticism from a number of religious institutions due to their insistence on the removal of gods as the sole focus for all forms of healing, turning to science and medicine instead. The most vocal clerical orders have been the Abbey of the Dawn and the Corvus Clave, as the former is an established healing staple in the kingdom and the latter is not keen on the House's experimentation to create artificial life.
