The Aerie

The Aerie is an extradimensional plane that is a segment of the Crucible, comprised primarily of the Element of Air. As part of the Elemental Chaos that is the Crucible, the Aerie is but a sector of the graner sphere that comprises mostly of the geographical and astrological attributes of the former Plane of Air, prior to the Cosmic Sunder in which the Elemental Planes were fused together into the Chaos.   Various creatures native to the storm and sky reside here, from large flying animals like Rocs and Griffins to Giants who command Empires atop floating cities shrouded in storm.

Geography

The Aerie is mostly comprised of a selection of floating islands known as the Floating Isles, the largest of with stands as a whole continent-sized landmass of endless cave and desert, known as the Bed Barren.
  • The Bed: The lowest layer of the Aerie, a massive expanse of endless desert that houses a variety of flightless or ground-based creatures, but also serves as a nesting place for flying creatures who do not like the random wandering of the Isles.
  • Djinn's Rift: Otherwise known as the "Quiet Mountain", this place is mountain ravaged by a constant heat storm, but never causing loud thunderous crashes like a traditional storm. The Djinn have settled there en masse, though many of them abhor the sylphs for forsaking them as their gods, despite being the one to create them in the first place. Some Jinn yearn for a return to form through violence, while others wander and encounter sylphs to aid them from afar, as they view them as still their children. Ruled by Risha the Better.
  • The Great City of Seraph: Otherwise known as "Kingdom on Strings" by its detractors, the City of Seraph is a colossal city ruled by the Genasi or Sylphs of the region. Using long adamatine-wire bridges known as Chimestrings, they have leashed themselves to several landmasses that they take along with them during the constant trek of the Floating Isles, with their own Landmass' trajectory having been predicted and their system modified to accommodate. The strings are flexible enough to allow for movement of the islands to avoid crashing with others, but sturdy enough that they do not snap or break and allow people to travel to and from the various islands. Ruled by King Abrams Hurricanys III.
  • The Spear of Talos/Kordshand: One of the Chimed Landmasses attached to Seraph, taken as a prize during the War of the Smiting Storm between the Kingdom of Seraph and the Tribal Sylphs of Stormborn. This war was what saw the rise of House Stormwind, and thusly they have their ancestral home of the Stormhold and the Roaring Keep here.
  • The Fade: Another colossal landmass bathed in snow and ice, housing all manner of frigid creatures such as Ice Giants, White Dragons, and other beasts. Ruled by the White Dragon Chasm, the Blinding Awe, at war with the Frost Giant Chieftain Giraghas.
  • The Nestgorge: The main settlement of the Birdfolk within the Plane of Air, though their tribes run the gambit of Isles on the realm. Ruled by the Owl Aarakocra, Sage Uvé of the Breaking Down.
  • The Belfry: A colossal mountain wreathed in an endless shadowy storm, which is the site of a Thunderbird's nesting grounds, often said to hold untold treasure taken by the Bird on its hunt for food, such as dragon scales, gold, items from carts, and other things.
