House Kingsmith

House Kingsmith is one of the largest and most politically powerful houses in the Dwarvish kingdom of Thor Bardam. Masters of forging weapons, armor, and magical items, a Kingsmith has often always been behind the legendary arms of the realm's greatest heroes and dwarven mythical figures, believing to claim ancient ancestry to the god Moradin himself despite how often such a boast is made.

Structure

  • Jojen "Big Jo" Kingsmith: Head of the family and Forgemaster to the king Aldryc Godsforge, Jojen loves his family dearly and keeps a legendary reputation as a master weaponsmith and armorer. One of many patrons of the expedition into the Ruins of Gaius, an ancient relic city of the old Kasilian Empire within the human kingdom of Sonora, Jojen hopes to continue pursuing innovation regardless of the other dwarven counselors' insistence upon tradition and using ones own intellect and heart to craft the future, rather basing their future on the technology of another civilization that does not belong to them. Jojen is kind, open-hearted, trusting, and sees the best in people until they prove him wrong, which has burned him many times in the past.
  • Velya Myner-Kingsmith: Jojen's wife and the mother of the Kingsmith Three, Velya is the matron mother of the House and is fiercely protective of her children and her husband, always keen to caution and temper his trust of others who have not proven themselves. Regardless, she has a strong devotion and loyalty to those who earn it, and thusly never speaks badly of anyone until they have a reason for the rotten taste. Velya wears her long hair in a tight up-braid coil and often wears golden dresses with a leather gorget and pauldrons.
  • Reedus Kingsmith: Reedus Kingsmith the Eldest is the quiet, bookish type, more interested in lore and research than forging and building, with an unkempt interest in wizardry that often has him butting heads with his father, mother, brother, and other members at court, due to the dwarvish dislike of arcane magic. He has no drive to create, only to learn and expand his own understanding of the world. Reedus is slim for a dwarf, with wide baby-blue eyes, short brown hair cut in a bowlcut and a narrowed triangular-cut beard, wearing dark fashionable waistcoats and robes instead of traditional dwarvish armor-wear.
  • Hjorner Kingsmith: Hjorner Kingsmith the second child is the warrior son of Velya and Jojen, one who prefers to be deep in the pits of blood and war rather than sitting by and making the weapons and working to have their magic infused into them. He is boisterous, charismatic, and enjoys the thrill of battle and wishes to become legend through the smiting of beasts, oftentimes joking at the expense of his own siblings. Jojen has a brilliant gold mess of hair and beard, both tied in warrior knots. He often wears leather armor-wear topped with metal for special occasions, but often is seen in a whole suit of plate and always carrying the armor-destroying war mace Goldsunder, built by his father from the prongs of a Rust Monster.
  • Jayne Kingsmith: Jayne Kingsmith is the youngest child of the Kingsmith Three and one who truly wishes to follow in her father's footsteps as Forgemaster, working hard at becoming a master builder while still in her young adolescence. She is bright, hopeful, and keen to complete her first truly magical weapon very soon under her father's tutelage. Jayne has brown hair, freckles, tanned skin, and a small soul-patch of a beard, often wearing smithing aprons and protective leather coating, as she is always working.
  • Daginasi Alithor-Kingsmith: Daginasi is the adoptive child of the Kingsmith family, a Dragonborn that was found when he stumbled upon an Orestryke mining site in the human kingdom of Sonora. Jojen had been present and decided to take Daginasi back to his home after hearing his tale of travel and wander. He instantly felt a kinship and taught the now rising Artificer much of what he knows, having the Dragonborn serve as his understudy in the current excavation of the ancient Kasilian city of Gaius. Jojen loves Daginasi as much as his own children, keeping with the dwarvish tradition of found family and becoming family to those without one.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Smeltbacks hold considerable political power and religious power due to their claim of lineage of Moradin himself, and their patriarch's position as Forgemaster to the King's Council.
