Sintin
Horror Goblins
Sintin are a type of Goblin that dwell in Waterdeep under the Cutting Mountains. They are a grotesque mutated creature that most fear when encountered. They roam in small tribes of a dozen or so females led by a dominating large male. The Dwarf of the mountains considers them dangerous scavenging vermin to be exterminated on sight. A hunting party of dwarves will be gathered quickly when scouts find a tribe wondering to close to civilization.
Sintin are scavengers and hunters in the Night Below, the hunt dwarf and Human miners, for both food and supplies. They avoid large settlements when it can be helped but have been known to use stealth to sneak into the outskirts of town to steal supplies or kill prey for food. Sintin move on quickly after an attack, trying to avoid retaliation.
These goblin's society are structured around a small patriarchal group. A powerful male will keep a harem of females around him as his tribe, fighting off other rival males, including his own male children. This will continue until he grows to weak from age and is killed off, often by one of his young sons, who replaces him as leader of the tribe. These small tribes are isolated from others, sometimes for years or even generations, wondering and hiding. When groups of Sintin meet, there is often violence as the males try to compete for control. Winner taking the spoils of the fight, including the females and loot. This leads to most Sintin tribes being very inbred. Sons take over tribes and mate with their mothers and sisters. It is only when tribes encounter each other that new blood is added to a tribe.
While the male dominates the tribe through brute force, they do little more than assert their authority and power. The female Sintin do the work in the tribe, including hunting and fighting. Their weak or wounded are killed by the male leader, who can just breed more. Males born are usually allowed to live until their teen years when they will be pushed out of the tribe to find an aging male to kill and take control of his tribe. Most often, however, these teens challenge their father and are killed.
According to legends Sintin originated in the caves of Mount Sintin, which is named for them. There is a Stonefoot Carvings in the region that claims them serving Mufu the Lord of Skies as an army of soldiers guarding her domain after the Gilgurth Event. Ancient Siduum text claim them the creation of Mufu, along with the Sintin Kobold. The goblins themselves claim, however, that their people dwelt in the mountain long before the coming of Mufu. These goblins hate Dragon above all other creatures, blaming Mufu, and by extension dragons, for the loss of their homeland.
Sintin are tall for goblins, often reaching five feet for males, will females come close to that as well. They are often bold, through some women grow tufts on the top of their head in patches. They legs are covered in thick hair from the waist down. Like many goblins the Sintin have a green, yellow, or brown skin tone. Due to the generational inbreeding of their kind, these goblins, especially the males, will often have long growths coming out of their bodies that appear as tentacles. Though little more than tumorous growths, these growths are seen as status among the Sintin. The females find the male with the most, or longest growths as more attractive. Males will be more intimidated by those with the greater number or longer growths. While males are seen as more attractive with the growths, females are seen as ugly among their kind and are shunned by their tribe. This causing many to painfully cut the growths off, often leading to death.
