Somewhere on the shores of Lake Roic in the Heartlands of the major continent of Ethae is a large stone estate house. Its existence is the stuff of tavern tales and street legends. It is the famous college of illusion known as Houdin House. Its location is not on any map. It is shroud in illusions that only the initiated can see through. Many look for it, few find it. To be admitted in as a student, one must enter the school without help. Which means finding an impossible location, hidden behind unbreakable illusions. An impossible task to say the least, and that is why Houdin House produces the greatest illusionist of Ethae.

As stated, Houdin House is something of an urban legend across Ethae, especially among those in the illusionist community. Clues of its location and how to breach the protective illusions are said to be scattered acrossLakorth, in its lights and illusionary displays. An ever-changing code to be broken that will guide the brightest minds to the college. Only a handful will break the code, half will turn up in alleys and hospitals with no memory of the weeks or months prior. Those that find the college and pass the entry tests become Houdin Illusionist.

One might think with all the secrecy surrounding the college there are dark deed and nefarious plots hatched in the school. Many noble houses, and government officials would agree with that. However, for the common folk Houdin Illusionists are heroes sticking it to authority. Houdin Illusionist are the ultimate pranksters of Ethae. The illusions meant to annoy the wealthy and entertain the masses. Often these are harmless light shows or illusions, but sometimes property is damaged and lives lost, usually when authority figures overreach to the prank.

After their time in Houdin House its graduated illusions, having honed their skills in the complicated pranks the school pulls off, become successful wizards across the globe. Often settling into a 'normal' life of creating illusion for coin. But, once a Houdin Illusionist, always a Houdin Illusionist, and many of these former students have been called up on occasion for large scale pranks, or even to protect the college and its students from harm.
