Battle of Pontours Valley

Umaybbad's Folly

In the year 5729sc the Umaybbad conquest of Anbar had reached the Farlands (Tinjir). This march across the Eastern Reach of Ethae ended in the Battle of Pontours Valley at the southeastern border of what would become Mainor. In truth it was several battles over several days, with fighting in both the hills around it, and in the marshy lowlands of Pontours Valley itself.

This conflict was a major victory over the Orc invaders. The Maine and Lhakamen army led by the Qwn’yia known as Maquli. It was her tactics of misdirection and ambush that led to victory by the small force against the orcs vastly superior numbers. The battle brought the deaths of many Scaro'are chieftains. It is this battle that saw the end of the Umaybbad expansion west.

The battle had a cost to the Tinjir forces as well, with estimate claiming the loss of at least two thirds of the natives' fighting men. The victory however solidified Maquli's power in the reign. While Mainor had existed prior as a regional name, it became a defined nation under Maquli and the qwn'yia. With the witches coming out of the shadows to dominate the nation.
