Prince Bartholomew (a.k.a. Barti)
Bartholomew is a prince of Deywos , an Earl of Belisama, and the husband of Madryn of Sinderfall. He is Queen Zakiyah's younger brother and was married to Madryn to create ties between the most mineral-rich earldom in Belisama and the first queendom of the north, Deywos. He spends most of his time training and breeding hunting dogs, and would really like to open up a forest hunting school in Sinderfall, to give it some much needed prestige

Personal history
After Madryn somehow pushed Sinderfall into a state of utter disaster and burned down her own castle, Elcu was desperate to marry her older, disabled sister off to someone and tie up the weakest link in her queendom. Bartholomew is one of Zakiyah's brothers- a quiet, asocial man who had expressed little interest in marriage and simply wanted to keep to his hobbies. Despite his wishes he was offered to Madryn in marriage after a tense meeting with the leaders of Deywos. Zakiyah agreed to this marriage under the provision Bartholomew had power of succession and would be made Earl of Sinderfall, giving him the title and land. Madryn became his consort, and any real power she had was taken away.
Bartholomew hoped to lead a relaxing life as a prince and simply hunt and train his dogs, so he was not particularly happy with the arrangement either. Madryn was constantly angry at her sister and suffered frequent debilitating headaches. The knowledge he could divorce her if he wanted was humiliating to someone who had once been heir to the throne of Belisama. Bartholomew decided to make the best of the situation. He had little knowledge of the workings of Sinderfall and consulted her on every detail, eventually admitting he didn't feel like leader material on his own and wanted companionship on the matter.
Madryn and Bartholomew became an oddly compatible pair, with Bartholomew's avoidant and calm nature contrasting Madryn's forthright and lively disposition. Much as Elcu had a Shadow Queen, he asked Madryn if she would like to be his shadow. Out of the public eye, Madryn was able to gain influence as a resourceful but sometimes ruthless shadow, and she ensures Bartholomew never has to get his hands dirty.
